In California, they are called Mountain Lions, in Oregon and Washington, Cougars and in Mexico and the Southwest of the US they are called Pumas, but they are the same species. Males can easily weigh 200 pounds and can have a home range of several hundred square miles. Mountain Lions are North America's big cat, ranging from Mexico to Canada. There have been many sightings around this small town, including our property and even on the back deck, once. (Gulp!) Everyone is afraid of them, and rightly so, especially families with children. They do attack and even kill humans...but they are also highly respected and beautiful predators. So, having them around populated areas poses a dilemma for wildlife-lovers like me. HERE is a Wiki photo of a Mountain Lion.

Lovely reflections, excellent image! Like!
