Departing from Goathland

Selected for Google Maps and Google Earth

Not exactly what I was hoping for since the cloud cover lowered light levels too much to get sharpness from front to back using the high shutter speed needed to avoid motion blur, typically though 2 minutes after it left the sun shone beautifully !

I'll be back !

Looks like a toy train Sam dang excellent if you ask me.

We found the steam train round these parts recently. I am itching to see it working!

I'll pray for better weather than you got my friend.

Best wishes ol' buddy - Jethro

Cheers Jethro, looking at the scene from up above has added to that toy effect, as has the editing needed to lift the low light levels so a return visit is definately on the cards. Many thanks and yes I hope you get better light as and when you go see yours.

kind regards, Sam

Read your 'self critical' comments.

I know I am a rank beginner at this lark - only started a few months ago so have no right to judge other peoples pictures at all - but for what its worth - i would be delighted with this !!! :)

To be honest - I think this is better suited to the beauty and old world feel of the steam, than a shiny 'hdr' like picture...

the vantage point is perfect - as is the composition, capturing rail furniture too. but then from what I have seen of your gallery so far - thats a given for every shot

best wishes Dean

As I see it Dean your comments read as observations rather than judgements so you have all the right in the world to say your piece and I am delighted to hear your thoughts which are very encouraging. Yes I must admit I do take pride in how I compose my images and see that as my strong point.

kind regards and thanks,

Sam :o)
