Dear Volkan,

I like this kind of photos very much, a beautiful shot. I didn't know that in Izmir flamingos are to be found. If I look at the map it seems there are small artificial lakes or ponds for industrial fishing (?) - that would explain why the flamingos stop there. Metin Erinc also took nice photos from this area with flamingos.

Greetings, Andreas

Thanks much Andreas, these rectangle ponds are salt production facilities from sea water. It makes perfect environment for the migrating birds. And thankfully it is kind of wildlife protection area. Here is another picture and a panorama from this region. Best wishes, Volkan

Selam Volkan Bey

bu mükemmel bir fotoğraf olmuş. Tam olarak İzmir'in neresi olduğunu merak ettim.

Volkan, thanks for the explanations.

After my last comment I found that this area is also called Kuşcenneti (Birds Paradise). Prof. Tuncay posted also a photo of the entranceway. So far I thought that flamingo swarms merely occurs at Bafa Lake.

İzmir is really a beautiful city and I must visit it to learn more from Turkey (I know airport and town centre only).

Greetings to Chicago, Andreas

Bunyamin Bey, lginize cok tesekkurler. Burasi Izmir'in kuzey batisinda Sasali kasabasinin yanindaki tuzla.

Kuslarin adlari, dikilen binalara isim oluyor.

Selam Volkan Bey;
