Khor Najd a Gem Among Oman’s Stunning Landscape
Separated from the rest of Oman by the United Arab Emirates, the Masandam Peninsula is well worth the day trip from Dubai or other nearby UAE cities. Once you cross the border at Tibat, the natural landscape here is breathtaking. Aquamarine colored water greets startling cliffs, Khasab’s colorful homes tease your eyes and this peninsula’s fjords or khors present spectacular views. After Dubai’s decadence, Masandam is a sweet change of pace in the Middle East. One of the most beautiful khors is Khor Najd, about a 30 minute drive from Khasab. The minimalist desert landscape gives way to this craggy and rocky inlet that is hidden from the Strait of Hormuz. If you are fortunate to have a four-wheel access, braving the dirt road to the beach at Khor Najd offers a near perfect spot for lunch and a break from driving. With its impressive roads, friendly people and mystifying landscape, Musandam and the rest of Oman reward those who travel to this corner of the Arabian peninsula.
