What an amazing photo! I can hardly wait to hike this section of the PCT next year. Hoping to get a worthy photo of my own from this area. Thanks for the inspiration.

Thanks so much. It is a really special viewpoint, with tons of vertical relief. There's an unmarked side trail that drops down into the canyon that you should also check out if you have time. I ran across a huge black bear (the biggest I've seen in Oregon) down there one year. It was a pretty amazing experience . . . most notably because the bear ran the opposite direction from where I was standing :-)

Hello Troy, it's Jeramya again.(skyybluu) How are you? I was wondering if you came to this point via the Carl lake trail? Seems to me the best trail for a day hike as far as distance and elevation gain. I am so excited to finally take in this spectacular view which you have captured so beautifully. I love your bear story, too cool!! I was recently in the Mount Jefferson Wilderness and had a bear run across the road while driving just before the Pamelia Lake trailhead! I love your work my friend, and sorry to here about your 5D. Getting the Mark II next? That would be my dream camera, thanks for your time!

Thanks Jeramya. The first time I came across this viewpoint, I backpacked in from Craig Lake, but on this particular day, I accessed it from the Pamelia Lake/Hunts Cove area. I think it's a little closer coming in from Pamelia Lake, which is nice if you have to hike in and out on the same day (which is what I needed to do on this particular day). Good luck. I look forward to seeing some photos from your hike.

I noticed that the images you reciently uploaded are not mapping to google earth because of their small size.. Did you intend to do that?

Hey, Michael. It's good to hear from you. Hope things are well with you.

It's been so long since I uploaded photos, I couldn't remember what size they needed to be. It took me a few attempts, but I think I should be able to map the ones that I want mapped now. Some of the new images include people, and since those aren't mappable anyway, I left them small for a little extra copyright protection.
