Rafal, yes it's quite a simple landscape of a country road with a bold backdrop. This was the first time I had travelled this road, and we were about the first to drive it after a flood had inundated the road and the lower country behind us, back on the plains near Coonamble.

Before us are the volcanic mountains called the Warrumbungles. There are many fantastic dykes and plugs protruding from the mountains, when you get there and begin to hike the trails.

Ian, your wisdom about your country is impressive! Every your photo has its own story! It's awesome! Greetings from far away :-)

this is one of the best views in australia!!

Hi Jezza,

You obviously know the Warrumbungles! And love the landscape. I was a bit disappointed with the haze that particular morning for in the right light this is quite a stunning majestic view that is quintessential Australia. But so is the smoky haze part of the Australian environment, so a mood photo is ok, too.

Had it not been for the flood we would have been out on the Macquarie Marshes above Carinda, but couldn't get across the black soil flats, so we detoured to the Warrumbungles instead and nearly didn't make it out this far for the road out of Coonamble had been closed the day before. I drove cautiously and we were able to get through. It was a morning to remember though.

Thanks for your response.

Mate i live just down the road towards Coonamble about 10km away. I know the area very well. Always loved this view driving to the mountains.

The haze is just dust, but great pic.

Thanks Jezza. I haven't been back to explore out Carinda way, but will one day. But the mountains I know well, having spent quite a while over the years gone by, in the Bungles.
