Now "that's" blue. a very striking colour for a locomotive, Peter. Rather a short consist for a double-header, no?
Just lo♥e all that smoke, steam and expelled water. Great action again, Peter.
proud to give your 1st of many likes on this one
Again, thank you very much for your visit here, and of course for the 'like'. I reckon this is one of my favourites from the weekend. Yes, the loco really is that blue! It was on Severn Valley railway last year for example, stayed for repair over the winter, and will go back to Scotland later this year.
You are right, those few coaches are a featherweight load for either of these two freight locos, the double heading is just for fun!
Hi Blazergirl, you are so knowledgeable about such matters!!
In this case the colours are correct. The blue was the colour of the Caledonian Railway, however impractical it might seem. I vaguely remember seeing a book about Caledonian Railway Livery on one of the stands at Llangollen gala, with a similarly coloured loco on the cover.
Hi Peter Beautiful shot. I LIKE it ~ Y☆. I can't remember seeing this colour before. Greetings 4 t ⃝ N E
Hi Steve & Tone
Thank you both for your visit, nice words, and the stars. For me this was the best one of the day, just as it was getting dark. Tone, the blue is Caldonian railway, and there aren't many preserved caladonian locos about.... Steve, you are right about the light, this is a 'late afternoon' place, by which time it is out of shadow.
Hi my dearest Peter,
A big LK for this lovely blue...
My Dearest Füsun,
I am so happy that you 'like' it. Thank you so much, and it's really nice to see you back on here.
I pity the poor cleaners who have to polish it every day.
Unfortunatly this loco will be back to Scotland soon, so I probably won't see it again for a long time.
Hello Peter finaly got round to looking at your pic from the Llangollen Gala and waht a cracking shot here. That Caladonian blue livery dose stand out a nice capture as it passes through the trees so a YSL from me.I was out last weekend at Denthead Viaduct for the Duchess to Carlisle not brilliant weather but a differant locastion. We then went on up to the Carlisle to Newcastle line at Greenhead for it back but its down hill so no working much.Best wishes Alan
Many of steam - good photo. :)
Hi Alan, Vadim, & Dušan Le-Niš
Thank you very much to all of you for your visit, and the awards. I am sorry for a late reply, I have been out of the country.
I must admit that I have no idea how practical this blue livery was in service, but on a highly polished preserved loco, it is a bit special!
Alan, I'll be paying a proper visit to your gallery as soon as poss.
Peterprivatebox, Thank you for voting in 2013 November TTT - Red, Yellow, Blue contest. Kind Regards, Jean (moderator)
