It is not only my grandchildren that love the Dubbo Plains Zoo.
While this girl may appear to have her nose in the air, she really is seeking someone to stroke her throat. This is about as expressive as she gets!
Some Australian children may get to visit this wonderful zoo once in their childhood, but I prefer to remain as a little child when it comes to the opportunity to call in at Dubbo when travelling between Brisbane and Adelaide or Melbourne or taking the long way round from Sydney to Brisbane.
But the truth be known, I would rather have preferred to have been able to geo-locate this image on the Galapagos Islands, somewhere.

Now that's a great photo! I really like how you framed this - it's not just "here is a tortoise." You've focused on shapes and details with an intimate depth of field. The photo is emotional, not just iconic. Nice work!

Dear Inga, I very much appreciate your appreciation of this portrait. Through feedback such as this we are all consciously improving. And as Tamás says, she is "beautiful" and she was seeking attention and touch. It was an emotional moment, so I am glad you feel I have captured that. Thank you both.

Wow! I have turtles but I've never seen one his size! Could he live for another 100 years?

You certainly love animals of all descriptions going by your folio, Rory. As for this guy, I hope he lives into the next century!
Kind regards,
