Is this in wrong section, should it be Berlin mid 1980s with that wall? Oh no it's the beautiful beach I remember from my childhood that has been ruined by greedy developers.

The beach development is a great prospect for local people. Hundreds of new jobs, less pressure on the housing market from second home buyers, and a beautiful development to replace the crumbling Colleseum that was falling apart. This will be a place that locals can be proud of, somewhere smart and upmarket. Private developers dont come along with £200 million every day. This development already has planning permission, the last application was to improve the sea wall to protect it better from storms. If people didn't keep standing in the way of progress we wouldn't be left with this mess for years. There are pleanty of unspoilt beaches within 10 minutes drive of Crinnis.
For the record, I live in St Austell. We don't all want to remain in the past, with a nostalgic vision of how the place looked in the 1970's and 80's. Things change.

Sure, there will be more menial jobs for cleaners, parking attendants, waiters and guards, along with a massive drain on the already overstretched local infrastructure; just what Cornwall needs - not. Meanwhile "Town Beach" will be shut off for the wealthy incomers, and locals will be deprived of one of the few natural amenities St Austell had going for it. Those that approve of the beach development have been duped. The whole scheme was not properly financed from the start, the planning was notoriously corrupt, and the parent company looks like it is now on the skids.
The public enquiry rejected the sea wall improvements and if the rubbish that was originally passed was ever built there is no way the monstrosity could be safe. I live in St Austell too, but my view of property developers has the benefit of a few years wisdom and maturity living in the real world. Bulldoze the lot and give us back our beach.
