Ankara-Ulus Atatürk Heykeli (Zafer Anıtı)

An equestrian statue of Atatürk which was erected in 1927 in the center of Ulus Square as a symbol of struggle in the War of Independence. Mustafa Kemal Atatürk is the founder and first president of the Turkish Republic. In order to transform the nation into a modern, democratic and secular state,the principles of Atatürk’s reforms were carried out and modern Turkey was established. Ulus, means “nation” in Turkish, is a quarter in Ankara which was once the most important district of old Ankara.
