The Owl Tree at Stourhead
A beautiful Owl a fine piece of art by Paul Boswell, of the Scraptors Sculpture Group displayed on a old (dead) Oak. It was part of the exhibition the Scraptors Sculpture Group had called:Beyond the Garden Gate_ sculpture trail that took place in September 2011.
One of the themes of the trail were the legends of Ancient Greece and Rome which inspired the Hoares, creators of the iconic landscape garden. The owl was revered as a symbol of wisdom in Ancient Greece.
The Owl is still present today but the organic paint will fade in time.
