Sunbathing hummingbird - she's got a damaged beak

Not selected for Google Earth or Google Maps [?]

Birds (according to KennyW) sunbathe.

They fluff up there feathers and on an hot and sunny afternoon they will lie down on a path and enjoy the sun's rays penetrating through to their bodies.

This would be unbecoming behavior for a hummingbird, so he/she (she in this case) does the same but on a branch. Look at her head to one side, she's loving it.

I uploaded a video too

I wonder if she busted it by flying into someones window?

Maybe you could file it down and put a drop of dope on?

Exactly right Mike - my kitchen window!

Thank you so very much Patty - and I'd like to say how nice it is to see you out and around these parts these days.

Are you getting out kayaking much?

Best wishes - Jethro

Patty Arsenault on July 14, 2012

Hey, Jethro. Thank you ... I've missed it ... not nearly enough time in a day.

Haven't been in the kayak much this year, yet. Was kicking myself for not getting out in March when we had that summer-like weather. I've been out once, but plan to get out more in the near future!

Someday, I'd like to try it out in your neck of the woods!

Hope you're having a good summer.

Warm regards,

When you plan to get down here with your boats... let me know - we have a little group of Panoramaniacs with kayaks.

Summer is a bit hot and damp so far! Its only going to get hotter (and damper).
