This Mountain Goat billy greeted us as we descended to the "snow bridge" area from our summit of Granite Peak. He climbs much easier than we do!

Yosarif, thank you for the kind comments.
An excellent photo!
These Mountains Goat does not look to fear humans!
I suppose that they are protected against the hunters since a long date?
Actuallly, hunting of Mountain Goats is still allowed in most all of Montana, including where this photo was taken. Hunting is regulated and only a few permits are let for each hunting district each year. However, by the time hunting season has arrived, these elevations are usually inacessable because of deep snow and the Mountain Goats have migrated elsewhere.
Also, because there are so many hikers on this mountain plateau in the summer, the mountain goats frequently come into camp licking hiker's urine for the salt content.
L 3, F 1, great shot.

Thank you for your L and your kind comments. I always enjoy when I can get a nice photo of one of the larger wild animals in Montana.
WOW, our little flat state has only a few big hills so I must go to another state to see mountains, this is a great photo , greetings from Delaware
genealderson, Again, thanks for looking at my photos and for the positive comments. You need to come see Montana sometime. There are great mountains like this from NM to MT and up into Canada. Each range is as impressive as the last.
I hope someday to be a photo hobo and to drive around this wonderful country of ours with my camera and lots of memory cards
Wow - it is agreat shot !! I saw they only as a little white point in Canada :)))
warm greetings aNNa*
aNNa.schramm, Thank you for the nice comment and for the L&F. The mountains near here have many Rocky Mountain Goats. Most of them are somewhat approachable but we usually have to hike many miles to see them.
A regal looking chap, and obviously sure footed.
Happy trails, Bruce
