I never realized you have so many old bunkers along the Norwegian coast. I remember also a picture (I think) by you of the Hitler's teeth. I think it is important that enough of these are preserved for the future generations as a warning example.
Best wishes, Timo
Very thought provoking photo, we have recently watched TV programmes about Norway's involvement in WW2, most interesting.
thanks for this one
Both beautifully brought before us brightening the blooming background ~~~
Yes Nick ..... and the foreground ROCKS !
At some points along this coastline there is a bunker about every 100 metres Timo, all built by Russian prisoners of war and Norwegian forced labour. Some of them are better preserved than others - this is one of the good ones. Nearby there are several blockhouses and gun emplacements, without the huns - whoops that was an unforeseen error, of course I meant guns!
Warm wishes from warm Norway, Amelia
The occupation of Norway caused a lot of hardship Bonnie Lad, but there were many stalwart souls who fought using resistance tactics and were trained in the UK. And of course there was the 'heavy water' raids on the east of the country. All very interesting.
Today I have been taking photos at yet another fort where there is gun that was capable of firing shells a considerable way out into the sea. Luckily I met another Norwegian guy there who was telling me about the exploits of his father. An interesting afternoon and a beautiful day!
Alliteration always adds amusing additions, so admirable. Thank you dear Nick! Just to add to your delight - this photo was taken at Bø. ;-)
... and the waves ROLL in. All we need now is Bill Haley & His Comets, and we can have a riot in the aisles. ;-)
Ca canny Bonnie Lad.
Original composition! Well done! Cheers, Christian
Thank you dear Christian. The bunker is in a good position looking over the North Sea, and the boathouse is probably not used to keep boats in anymore.
I think, very interesting place! And picture with a nice spirits! LIKE! With a best wishes Al
Very interesting landscape and good photo dear Amelia, I click Like with pleasure. Warm hugs for you, M.
Dear Al, thank you. Even though it is a reminder of World War 2, I also think it is a very calm place.
Warm greetings from Norway, Amelia
Dear Maggie, that is a lovely compliment. I am delighted that you liked the photo. It is a nice place to go for a walk.
Hugs to Poland from Norway, Amelia
Well Clive that is a Y* comment! I wish I had my Thesaurus with me here in Norway. I am delighted that you liked beautiful Bø and the bunker and boathouse.
Tusen takk til deg, Amelia
The 'ø' is pronounced in the same way as the French 'eu' Clive. I suppose if it is said loud enough ...
This conversation reminds me of Allo allo.
