Mid June to Mid August would be the best time frame. In August the weather becomes more unpredictable and fall is definitely in the air, but there are fewer bugs. My trip to Prudhoe was at the beginning of August and they said i had just missed the migrating Caribou by week or two.
This landscape is stunning. I only saw the tundra once from an aeroplane and I've been fascinated ever since. Hope I'll make it there some time. Just interested - how warm/cold was it there in august?
There was a lot of variation in temperature. By the coast it was chilly, in the 40's (Farenheit). Where this picture was taken, just outside the mountains and around 9pm it was in the 50's but had been warmer earlier in the day. In the lowlands away from the coast the temperature was ideal in the breeze. During passing rain showers the temperature dropped very quickly. It's all about the sun up there.

Perfectly beautiful! Great composition, and besides that, a wonderful long view of open lands.
Beautiful photo, greetings from Greece!
Thanks for the comments! Hope to make to Greece sometime. Greetings from Alaska.
Can you tell me which is the best season visiting Alaska? I want to take a trip along the Dalton Highway to Pruhoe Bay
