St Thomas Lychgate

Selected for Google Maps and Google Earth

I was bridesmaid here in 1963...I remember happily shivering under this lychgate! Many guests couldn't get there because of the high snowdrifts. I just found it very exciting!

Solid and quite deep Ian but it didn't make me feel any warmer...only a few years younger :-(

Cheers, Rosa.

A nice picture to bring back some memories Rosa, its a Winter I won't forget in a hurry too.I was 18 and a forestry worker,we had 2 miles to walk over woods and fields to get to work.A blizzard stopped us one morning,we were finding our own footprints filling in fast, back home, change of clothes eventually got to work at 10.00. We never lost a days work all that Winter, the good thing was we all recieved a weeks extra pay...all £4 of it;-) Happy memories Rosa;-)

It's unbelievable the difference in the wages then and now Neil! I remember not missing much school because it was in walking distance and we had to stay there even though most of the teachers and bussed pupils couldn't get there! My father took thispicture before it got really bad!

Cheers, Rosa.

started with this pic, went all round the houses on a 1963 nostalgia trip via Neil's Father's photo, and eventually found my way back here!

A lovely picture! Like. Best wishes, Andy

I love it when that happens Andy! I wish I could find a picture that I should have put in my favourites when I did that...can't remember how I got to it now. It was a group of Norwegian teenagers sat on the edge of the highest ledge!!! very scary but lovely view :-)

Best wishes, Rosa.

We always remember the shot that got away or that shot we now can't find and it is always THE ONE!!

I had a family shot from my Sister's wedding (in Spain funnily enough) in about 1983 which was the PERFECT family snap on all counts. I put it (and the others) somewhere safe.

Hah! I don't even have the negatives. Everything disappeared almost immediately. Other members of my family who saw the originals, fleetingly as it turned out, asked for copies and have rightly never forgiven me when I had to say "sorry, but..."

My name has been mud ever since! :-(

Yes...... I can symapthise easily with you, Rosa!

Best wishes, Andy

I to remember this lychgate. Not in 1963, but 1979 when I went to a wedding. It was raining and I sheltered here as well.

It is in such a pretty setting. Great view from up there. Cheers, Rosa.
