climbed that several times, but now there is some crazy old guy that sits at the top and waits for people to come up. I was up on top once and he came out the forest and goes this is private property get off. so i took off runnin down the mountain
He still has the sign, plus a new one at the bottom of the hill. I was just there over 4th of July weekend, and he was standing at the top of the hill yelling at anyone who tried to climb it. Probably spent the whole day there. One person who came down said he was threatening them with a gun. Nice guy. That hill has been a local attraction for at least 50 years that I know of, and hundreds of people climb it (or try to) every summer. He just bought the property 6 - 8 years ago, and apparently likes to wander around naked up there.
haha crazy old man. what does the sign say at the bottom? when i went up to the top he said "this is private property, please leave." then i took off running down. do you like in onekama?
He's kind of pathetic. From what I can tell, he spends most of his time sitting up there waiting to yell at people. My mother has a summer place a few miles south of there and actually knows the guy. He's extremely wealthy, a former law professor at the U of M.
My kids and I climb the hill just to the north of his now. It's just as high and we find an occasional petosky stone there. Not as much fun going down, though, because there are more rocks and bushes. But at least we don't have a nice beach walk ruined by that jerk screaming at us.
very pathetic. He must have an alarm system or something because we pulled up in a boat, and he was at top within 5 minutes.
Yeah there are a few other climbable ones

I've run into him a few times also. Now I just go 2/3rds of the way up.
hahah, does he still have his sign?
