Used by the St. Johnsbury and Lake Champlain Railroad for decades, the landmark was burned by vandals in the 1980's.

This year, 2009, the State of Vermont reinstalled another bridge, moved from Milton, Vermont, at this location. The new, "old" bridge is used strictly for pedestrian traffic.
