Te church was built 1130-1150 AD, and seems to be the oldest church in Rogaland.
This old and very well kept church did a lovely pose for you Amelia, so that you could get this nice composition :)
What a lovely compliment Clive, thank you. I didn't try to go in to the church, I suspect the door was locked, but yes, I guess it would be dark inside.
I would love to be able to tell you that this photo was well-planned, that I waited for the correct time of day etc., but that would not be true of course. Just pure luck and the clarity of the Norwegian light. :)))
Greetings to Beara, Amelia
Thank you dear ♥Fairy♥. The little church has a separate bell-tower but not as pretty as the one in Kjerringøy. ;-)
Nowhere near such a nice bell tower as this one. :)
Times can't have been easy in the 12th century... I love the simplicity of this fortified little church.
Lovely composition Amelia :) Hope all well there!
Urocza mała świątynia. LIKE 4
Many thanks Gudrun. Yes, the 12th Century must have been a bit grim, especially on this island off the coast of Stavanger. I can imagine a very isolated church congregation - just a few people.
