dal latino “aquilegium”, serbatoio d’acqua, per le numerose goccioline di rugiada che si raccolgono sulle foglie e negli speroni dei petali. Provenienza: crescono spontanee in prati e boschi, fino a 2000 m. di altitudine, dell’America, dell’Europa e dell’Asia.
