Dear May and Inessa, thank you so very much for your comments. I know that I appreciate opportunities to hear the connections that people have with their photos, but I wasn't so sure about being the one posting the pictures and telling the stories! It is affirming to hear that you find this enriching. Sincerest thanks. Marilyn
What a beautiful, Beautiful place! Such a soft photo too ~ it radiates such a feeling of warmth and love.
Did you spend time here as a child? The house looks like it is in positively great shape. What a feeling ~ to know that your grandfather built this with his own two hands, and that it still stands so proud today. I love this.
Perhaps the nice feeling of the photo came partly from the fact that I took it on the morning of Thanksgiving Day! It's in southwestern Missouri, and I grew up 600 miles away in northeastern Illinois. My grandmother would come by train to visit us sometime during the school year, and we would drive down to visit her sometime during the summer. I always loved the house, and since my grandfather died before I was born, the house and my mother's stories were my only links to him.
nice house, nice picture!
Thank you, nctm. I have happy memories of visiting my grandmother here.
Beautiful house! A true piece of Americana. Can't find houses like that in the city anymore. Maybe in the Northeast, New England.
Красивая архитектура у этого дома! L 2
Thank you, Glide and Людмила. My grandfather built this, my mother grew up in this house, and my grandmother continued to live in it until shortly before she died. It holds warm memories!
Marilyn, хорошо когда можно показать детям дом построенный их прадедом!
