Lovely! Wonderful live here! But as they do without electricity? How do they stay in contact with the world? We do not see the streets ... or other sources of contact ... However are marvellous places ... in all seasons ! Thanks you so much dear May for sharing your great photos ! Have a very nice Sunday, dear ! Hugs ! Fiorella :)

Hi May, Really enjoy your gallery thats a incredble country you live in. A question if i might? I've noticed that most if not all of the buildings you show us have really steep pitched roof,is that to give space inside? God Bless gary

Dear Fiorella, thank you very much for your lovely comment and for your interest!

There is a road leading actually to every house in Switzerland, but here it's hidden behind the hill, they have tractors and cars. What concerns modern comfort in the house and stables, you might be surprised how well they are equipped.

At the original photo you can see, that there are two poles for electricity and an antenna for TV at the smaller house.

I wish you a beautiful Sunday, my friend! A hug, May

Dear Hattie and Gary, thank you so much for your many visits and your interest! Gary, many of the farmhouses in the Emmental are more than 200 years old, built of timber. The style of houses depend on traditions and experience, the Emmental houses have very large roofs, thus protecting the facade, which helps to preserve them for centuries. There are often lots of snow, so the steep roofs help to keep it off. Some of the farmhouses, which I have uploaded are with a little description.

Best wishes, May
