Panorama: Abereiddy from Pembrokeshire Coast Path

Abereiddy grew up around its slate quarry, and likewise declined with the end of slate working in the early 20th century. A steam tramway ran from this bay to nearby Porthgain, where slate was loaded onto ocean-going vessels moored to a specialised quayside, the ruins of which can still be visited today.
