Pyochoong Temple, which means "Presenting Loyalty", was built during the Shilla dynasty. However back at the time its name was Jooknim Temple, meaning bamboo forest. It actually has bamboo forests around. The current name, Pyochoong was named after Samyeong, great Buddhist priest in the Chosun Dynasty. He was honored for his huge participation in Chosun-Japan War. Right behind the temple, Mt. Cheonwhang is located. 1,189 meters high. Around of the top of it, there is a plain of reeds.
