"Puntiagudo-Cordón Cenizos is a snow-capped volcanic chain located in the Andes, in Los Lagos Region of Chile, near Volcán Osorno. It lies between Rupanco Lake and Todos los Santos Lake. "Volcán Puntiagudo" (Spanish for "Sharp-pointed volcano") is a stratovolcano with a prominent 2,493 m high sharp-pointed summit that results from glacial dissection and gets its name from this feature.

Hola Silvestre, el volcán de la foto es el Puntiagudo y el que está en erupción es el Puyehue el cual es parte del cordón Caulle. Desgraciadamente la dirección normal de los vientos es de Oeste a Este y siempre la ceniza y humo de las erupciones volcánicas generadas en Chile se va a Argentina, recuerda que lo mismo pasó con el Chaitén! Leí en el diario que la pluma volcánica ya llega al Atlántico.
La zona en que está el Puyehue es preciosa, yo la conozco, pues he estado de vacaciones allí y en este momento hay algo de cuarenta centímetros de piedra volcánica cubriendo los caminos y praderas. El peligro en este momento es que se produzca un alud por la gran cantidad de lluvia que está cayendo en estos momentos la cual arrastra todo el material expulsado por el volcán y podría producir en tapón en los ríos.
