The records show that there was a Church in Drayton c1220. This one fell out of Church or Chapel use in the 18th century and at one time for a Bakery. It was later restored and reconsecrated in c1878/9 and still used once a month.St James now holds the distinction of being Leicestershires smallest consecrated Church.
