The bell tower of the Santa Rita Chapel (hidden in the trees) serves a second purpose as a lighthouse. The light is visible in front of the upper arch on the right side. This chapel was completely renovated after suffering severe damage during earthquakes in conjunction with the 15 June 1991 eruption of Mount Pinatubo. President Marcos had a beach estate in the town of Santa Rita Central, but that property was abandoned after the revolution and the buildings are derelict.
