Coastal Deer In Our Garden 1 ~~ A lovely way to start the day !!

Though commonly known as Coastal Deer locally, they are Columbian black-tailed deer (Odocoileus hemionus columbianus). What a treat to look up from watering plants and see two young deer in the garden. Rather than them shying away, they came closer, so I pulled the iPhone (camera) out of my pocket and got a few shots, slowly walked over to where we keep the peanuts for the Jays, threw a few to them - munch munch yum. They went up on the bank below the fir trees and ate pyracantha berries, wild sweet pea leaves and certain grasses. In the meantime, I went upstairs for the Canon and luckily they were still in the garden. They grazed for at least a half hour. Sure made my day, even if they were eating the roses (O:
