Why is this link positioned at 3.967524,55.792017,0 in Ravenscraig, Motherwell?

I think that location is decimal rather than degrees minutes & seconds. This is the more recognised format underneath. 55°47'31.26"N - 3°58'3.09"W

It's not positioned in Motherwell - It's positioned in Kirkcaldy, exactly where it should be.

Zyzym - you seem to be on your high horse today as this is the 3rd photo that you've commented on about being misplaced (not all mine) but it seems your complaint is why the photos are accessible from other links not related to the actual location. Take it up with Google/Panaramio - it's their bug. Also try posting some photo's of your own and quit bitching about other people links.

I apologise for getting on to you. I was just trying to fix where the link is. Obviously i have gone through the wrong channel or complaining in the wrong direction. I have absolutely no complaint with your pictures, which i think are very good, but I would just like to get the links fixed. I apologise again for any upset I may have caused. Please keep up the good work.

OK, I admit that I snapped at you a a bit - it was out of line and I apologise for biting your head off. I was having a bad China day.

I'm not sure what you mean when you say the 'links' are wrong though. If you look at the photo above (for example), then it is shown in exactly the right position. Are there links to photos elsewhere on this site? Maybe the links are just 'search links' looking for close matches. The is photo is of Ravenscraig Castle and it shows up under a search for Ravenscraig, Motherwell? Must be some connection to a search for related names??

Thank you for your reply. Personally I thought I was reporting this to Google Earth. The system for reporting mislocated photographs gives no indication of where or to whom you are reporting the fault. If you click on report inappropriate photograph it sends a report without you having any chance to say why you felt it was inappropriate. As previously mentioned, I thought I was flagging this up to Google Earth and having already had a previous issue which seems to have been ignored (why my home town of Udddingston, just outside Glasgow, has most of it's pictures on the blue square link being that of Duddingston, which is part of Edinburgh.) Going back to the Ravenscraig link,. if you go to Motherwell on Google Earth and then go 1.77 km east on a bearing of 79.34° you will find a blue square link which has your photographs of Ravenscraig Castle, Fife. I apologise once more for any offence I may have caused and hope that you understand that I was not criticing yourself or your photographs in any way but was merely trying to correct misplaced links. Best wishes for the future and I do appreciate the effort taken to enhance Google Earth.

I just checked that and you're right. Kinda weird, but I guess that's a bug in their system where they automatically aggregate photos from Panaramio and locate them in Google Earth. I can understand that mistake, even though it should be fixed - but not sure how the bug can be so bad as to mix up Duddinston and Uddingston.

I'm looking forward to getting home in April for a few weeks and bringing my good camera with me so that I can inundate Google Earth with photos of Kirkcaldy and its environs :-)
