LES JARDINS DU MANOIR D EYRIGNAC

In this family, the Eyrignac Manor Gardens have always been handed down to son or daughter, for the last 500 years : 22 generations have been following since the construction of the first castle or "Repaire Noble".

During the war called "La Fronde des Princes" in the 17th century, in revolt against Mazarin, an ancestor was a loyal supporter : the Grand Condé's troops revenged themselves on Eyrignac and burnt down the first castle, dating from the Middle Ages. The Manor was built by A. de C. de la C. in the 17th century. The first gardens were created in the 18th (great-grandson of Antoine), who had a large fortune : French garden inspired by the 18 th century Italian design. They were totally modified into an English romantic garden in the 19 th century, following the fashion of the time.

The garden did not fit to the image he always kept in his mind. He wanted to recreate them in the spirit of 18th century Italian inspired design. He thought of it for many years and some 40 years ago, decided to restore them. He was looking for its own inspiration. He searched and found the original traces of the former garden and drew the first plan of the french garden he always dreamt on.

All the trees were planted 20 centimetres high, but you could already see how the garden would become today ...
