The Mumbles Lifeboat, Babs and Agnes Robertson, on exercise in Swansea Bay, during the Red Arrows aerobatic display, September 2007. The lifeboat is a Tyne Class, 47 019, and has a speed of 17 knots and a radius of operation of 120 nautical miles.

Geoff Francis, on October 12, 2008, said:

The present Tyne Class will be replaced by a £2.5 million Tamar class boat in 2011. The Tamar has a speed of 25 knots and a range of 250 nautical miles. The existing lifeboat station can't house the larger boat so a new station will have to be built off-shore.
