The famous Waldorf hotel in London was not the origin of the famous 'Waldorf Salad', that honour going to the Waldorf in New York but the Fawlty Towers episode remains one of my favourites with the American guest, Mr Hamilton, demanding the Waldorf Salad and Basil answering that they "were out of Waldorfs"! This of course leads to complete and utter chaos with Hamilton threatening to kick Fawlty's Ass. Basil's famous reply was "it's all bottoms with you lot, isn't it". Anyway Sybil saves the day by, much to Basil's surprise, producing the salad. For the record, as Basil had no idea, the ingredients are celery, apples, walnuts and grapes topped with mayonnaise!!! In front of the other guests in the foyer afterwards Hamilton berates Basil calling him "The British Tourist Boards answer to Donald Duck". A classic!!!
