Nice to see these photos of another boat cruising the canals of England, but it would be nice to see a little more info other than just the date!
This is Bridge 26 on the Grand Union Canal just under half a mile south of Long Itchington in the County of Warwickshire. It is Humpback Bridge of brick construction. It connects the field to the North (right), to the field to the South (left). The Cream coloured structure in the foreground is a Narrowboat called Kara from where the photogragh was taken.
Thanks for the reply, we planned a trip on the Kennett and Avon last May and i researched the route on Google earth and discovered you could see photos of the different places, this was really interesting, a lot of the photos were of Kara and i started thinking Kara was a person before realizing Kara is actually the narrowboat.
Unfortunatelly the K&A sprang a leak and our holiday was moved to Warwickshire, just as nice we felt Braunston was lovely, we will be doing another boating holiday this year and hope to one day buy our own boat and we are starting to post our own photos, but it was nice to hear from you, hope my comment didnt seem negative, it wasn't meant to be.
May I suggest a holiday on the "Cheshire Ring". This not only includes the oldest canal (The Bridgewater) and the youngest (The Macclesfield) but also the Trent and Mersey, the Ashton and the beautiful Peak Forest Canal. The ring also includes one of the only "Canal Flyovers" at Kidsgrove and a chance to go on the wonderful "Boat Lift" at Anderton. you wil also pass within yards of Mancester United's football ground and, if you have enough time, take a detour across a worlds only "Swing Aqueduct" which crosses the Manchester Ship Canal at Barton. Regards, Meeko.
Thanks Meeko, I will be looking into this as it sounds really nice. We would still like to do the K&A but after doing Warwickshire we are not sure if it will be this year. We have been to Llangollan and crossed the ponty..... aquaduct on a trip boat, that was lovely. Arent we lucky to have such an interesting country with all these canals, we are spoilt for choice.
