localy known as WARGRAVE BRIDGE as it is situated on Wargrave Rd

I remember 2 seperate incidents of DOUBLE DECK BUSES entering this 11'-6"high bridge, needless to say both came out rather worse for wear. One was written off. Whereas the other went on to be converted into a single deck bus, though it retained its double deck suspension, and later in its life became a collectors item due to its Unique handling

I think you've added this comment to the wrong photo.

This is the bridge on Park Rd

The bridge you're refering to is probably the one at Vulcan Village.Photo HERE There is another bridge on Wargrave Rd but that might be high enough for double deckers , I don't know for sure.

This was known as Sandy Main's Bridge when built for the Liverpool and Manchester railway in 1829. The embankment between Newton and Earlstown was known as Sandy Main's Embankment.
