Hurricane Irene at the Edgewater

Selected for Google Maps and Google Earth

I wanted to get a shot of the beach during Hurricane Irene. Because of the wind and the rain I needed a sheltered spot. The Edgewater condo which occupies the 3600 block on the beach has gound floor parking under some of the building, so I sheltered behind one of the columns supporting the building, and took this photo between wind and rain gusts. The surf was much higher than normal, but also breaking further out from the shore with the high water mark, the edge of the white water in the photo, entirely covering the lower or first shelf of the beach. Go to the next photo to see the same place under normal conditions.
