A long time backdrop to Leighton Beach has been the Dingo Flour Mill. Contrary to local speculation that the dingo trademark was the creation of an infamous corporate criminal, the dingo trademark actually came from the Nicholas et al architectural office in Fremantle prior to WW2. During the war the design was blanked out for fear it would aid enemy navigation. It was repainted after the war. In the 1950s the dingo was black on a yellow background. Leighton beach goers parked adjacent to the flour mill in those days and walked several hundred meters to the ocean. Stirling Highway is out of sight between the mill and the green plastic plant shelters. This image was taken facing in a south easterly direction.
