L'arte rinnova i popoli e ne rivela la vita (Palermo - Teatro Massimo)

Selected for Google Maps and Google Earth

Palermo's Teatro Massimo is the biggest opera house in Italy and one of the largest of Europe (the third after the Opéra National de Paris and the Opernhaus in Vienna), renowned for its perfect acoustics. It was designed and overseen by the Italian architect Giovan Battista Filippo Basile and, following his death in 1891, by his son, Ernesto Basile. - The picture shows the portico with its six Corinthian columns and the monumental cupola.
