The 5 span Imbil Railway Bridge is a classified heritage item. It carries the Mary Valley Branch Railway across Yabba Creek.
Good shot Ian ,of some nice country side ,Cheers Craig :)
This was my home village, and my mother still lives there independently, at 88. Spent many hours in this river and still love the beauty of this varied landscape.
You captured a connection of wild nature and human's technology, and it looks great...
This is the blend that formed me. The wonderful natural world and the hard work of those who learnt to tend, farm and manage this environment.
I have seen this river rise to 20M under this bridge - the bridge is about 24M above the river. Then it is a wild river and yet the bridge is engineered to withstand it all.
Kind regards to you and your family.
Mate, I hope to see it live pretty soon. Me and my girl we are going to live in Brisbane for six months. We're counting the days!
I can imagine the counting of the days! I trust that you have a wonderful time while in Brisbane. Will it be a long holiday, or do you have employment to go to?
I would enjoy being kept informed of your arrival dates and address in Brisbane, and I know you will be very competent to explore our land. But if you want to know any detailed clues, or of special places beyond the fairly standard tourist fare, then do not hesitate to drop me a line. (And I am not hard to locate in the Sydney directory.)
Best wishes to the two of you for a very memorable stay in Queensland, with very warm and generous hospitality.
Your Aussie mate,
That is a beautiful shot of the bridge, Ian! So when are you coming back up this way to have another ride on the Rattler, do you think?
Very best wishes,
I hope you had a great Aussie Christmas!
I couldn't be there for Christmas so I came up to see my Mum for a day the weekend prior. I'll be uploading some images from that visit, but not of the MVHR.
I spent some time with one of the local Imbil photographers while I was there, and we mused about walking the line together, with our cameras, sometime soon.
Ok, Ian, that sounds good to me! I'll take one from on the train, of you two with your hair standing on end as we fly out of the tunnel! :D
We had a very pleasant Christmas, thanks, although it was a rather hot day, but that's what you expect in QLD, so I'm not complaining!
I'm glad you and your friend are going to be doing some pics around here, I had quite a shock when I first went on Google Earth,as there were not many showing the town of Gympie, so I thought I would have a go myself, but I started off with a very teeny weeny camera, with not many pixels. I still have a teeny weeny camera, but it has twice as many pixels, but so many settings, I can't decide what to use where, half the time. I'll learn!
very best wishes to you,
