I can't believe there are no comments on this yet...it is excellent!
Matthew Walters, on December 23, 2006, said:
Thanks, I'm glad you like it. It's my first real experiment with layers in Photoshop. I'd used them before, to correct exposures, but never purely for effect.
Martin Evers, on December 25, 2006, said:
For an image that has been seen over 1300 times, that in itself is a comment. I must say that this is a very impressive bit of work. Congrads.

Thanks Martin.

I was here the other day and it looked a bit differnt to this - much more grey and depressing!! This is great - looks like a Monet Sky (As in Vanilla Sky!)
Matthew Walters, on January 18, 2007, said:
Thanks - even the grey version has a better sky than the original. It was cold and wet, so the open top bus and boat tours weren't a great idea.
Praise be for Photoshop!
Snemann, on January 18, 2007, said:
This is even better than the greyscale version! I am one step closer to posting "artsy" pictures here, but still not quite sure. I like the geographical theme here very much, but perhaps a little art won't hurt?
Matthew Walters, on January 18, 2007, said:
Personally, I'd go for it (as you can tell from a few of mine). If the Panoramio and/or Google teams don't think the image should be on GE, it won't get uploaded. Also, if the image is way too abstract and perhaps not a recognisable place, you could post it unmapped. That way, you get the best of both options.
Snemann, on January 18, 2007, said:
The GE people seem to be rather picky anyway.. It would be fun to see one or two of one's pictures there. I'll see if I can come up with some art soon.
Snemann, on January 22, 2007, said:
OK - I added some pictures af a less geographic nature to my portfolio. Comments on my art are much appreciated!

Beutiful picture! I've been there last August. The weather makes the view totally different... WHat did u do with Photoshop?? Unbelievable sunset!! I heard it opened at 8 pm December 31, 1999 to the memory of millennium by Mr.Blair who is the servant of Mr.Bush. hhh
Matthew Walters, on May 3, 2007, said:
Thanks! The actual sky was a pretty flat grey. I bumped up the contrast quite significantly, which led to the grey-scale version, then I just added a load of different layers to build the sunset - a mixture of oranges, reds, yellows, and blue.
It did open for the millennium celebrations and would certainly make a good metaphor for politics - it goes round and round in circles and never gets to a conclusion. :)

Matthew Walters, on October 15, 2007, said:
Thanks John, Islandshl and Matt for your comments.
Matt, yu're right - the spokes do show up the photoshop somewhat, this was an early effort and using Elements I didn't (at the time) have the ability to use layer masks, so the editing was rougher than I would probably do now. In the original image, you could hardly see any contrast in the clouds, they were more-or-less flat.
