This close-up from a open-pit mining area turned out to be much more dramatic and abstract than I expected at the first place. It could certainly be a photo from another planet as well.
But not as much beauty on this planet...? It is really a place to take powerful and dramatic photos, Patrick. Good titles.
I was at another place today, which was quite different. Actually, most of these open-pit mining areas were immediately closed down after the German Reunification in 1990. These old moonscapes were then (and still are) re-cultivated. One important aspect is to flood the old hollows, and this way many new lakes arose around Leipzig, which will be (or maybe already are) nice tourist attractions.
