A passenger train on the Fremantle to Perth line passes through the remains of the redundant Leighton rail freight yard. Most of the old freight lines have been torn up. The 'bluemetal' stone ballast in the foreground is a reserve for use on the passenger line. This image was taken facing in a north, northeasterly direction from the old freight yard footbridge. The suburb of Mosman Park is in the distance. The Indian Ocean is a few hundred meters to the left of the image.
