" Quartz, gold, & Opal....?"

Selected for Google Maps and Google Earth

This rock is part of the headstone of Cynthia Ann Parker who was captured as a little girl was raised by the Indian's and latter married a member of the tribe. She had a son named Quanah Parker who had the chisseled features and dark skin of a Native American Indian, but had his mothers blue eyes. He was a very imposing figure and grew up to become "War Chief of the Comanche Nation. Decendent's of the Parker Family still reside in Elkhart Texas where I grew up. :-)

Interesting...is this an old spring that was encased?

Is this near an old drilling mud pit from the 1930s? Or, close to an old well site that is leaking fluids? Very interesting snap...

I am packing my prospector gear, as I type.

Expect a gold rush in Anderson!

And I think the blue-green might be a little copper...??

smoobooty on July 5, 2012

Excellent description. I think the blue is from copper that is coloring other minerals.

I may go looking. Read one about a woman captured by the Sioux in the 1860s and rescued a couple years later.

I think you would like her story, the poor girl was drug all over the country, kidnapped, runaway and then stolen back and so on till she just gave up and died. And even then I think she was dug up and burried in 3 different places. Pretty sad but amazing, you can't make this stuff up. She now rest beside her husband.
