Spomenik oslobodiocima Niša - Monument to the Liberators of Niš

Monument to the Liberators of Niš is located in the city center, at the Square of King Milan and marks the period of the liberation wars against the Turks, Bulgarians and Germans. The four most important years of that period for the city are engraved on the monument: 1874th and 1877th years, a period of struggle for the liberation of Niš from the Turks, and 1915. and 1918. years, the beginning of the occupation and liberation of the city in World War I. The monument is the work of famous sculptor Antun Augustinčić. Officially unveiled and consecrated 28th June 1937th on the occasion of sixtieth anniversary of the liberation of Niš from Turks


Spomenik oslobodiocima Niša smešten je u samom centru grada, na Trgu kralja Milana i obeležava razdoblje oslobodilačkih ratova protiv Turaka, Bugara i Nemaca. Četiri najznačajnije godine tog razdoblja za grad Niš ubeležene su na spomeniku: 1874. i 1877. godina, period borbi za oslobođenje Niša od Turaka i 1915. i 1918. godina, početak okupacije i oslobođenje grada u Prvom svetskom ratu. Spomenik je delo čuvenog vajara Antuna Augustinčića.Svečano je otkriven i osveštan 28. juna 1937. godine povodom šezdesete godišnjice oslobođenja Niša od Turaka.
