Yes I've seen his comments...I don't remember Dracic street...My best friend lived in Webb street and one of my mum's friend in Hilltop road...I used to go to merrylands pool nearly every day...walked up to it from mary street...have a nice day,Lory..
Loredana and Chris Hi! I thought I should join the conversation.
Loredana, we are sharing the same feelings. I can understand how you feel, I felt the same way when I saw the photographs. I used to go to the merrylands pool too. I used to walk there from Treves street with my younger brother and little sister. We also left Australia in 1978 and came to my home country Turkey. And haven't been to Australia ever since.
Thanks to Chris and Panoramio, we are able to visit the places we are missing.
(By the way I am a Mrs.)
Greetings and best wishes from Üsküdar-İstanbul/TURKEY

Hi Lory. Thank you for your reply.
I was 20... when I left Australia. So I think we are about the same age. 2 years difference maybe...
It was usually my duty to post the letters, so I remember the post office quite well.
Yes I have a facebook and I'll look for you.
I'll try to keep in touch, bye for now.

Here is the identical view in about 1964.
And here again in 1949.
It's nice to see the Post Office again after 30 years of time.
Not changed that much from 1964, really, has it?!
As far as I can remember it seems to be the same, only it looks renovated.
The trees in front of the Post Office seem to have been planted in 1949.
Mujgan, hi!
If you go to this Holroyd Council link, there's heaps of historical photos of Merrylands, including images from the 1970s and 1980s
Thank you very much. It is most appreciated.
I grew up in Merrylands...I moved to Italy in 1978..This photo brings me back in time....I'm so exiceted...thank you...
You're very welcome, Bianco.
Where did you go to school when you lived in Merryalnds?
I went to Merrylands East primary school.then Granville south high..
I went to Granville Patrician Brothers, and lived in Merrylands West (Dracic Street).
You'll see, also on this threads, comments from Mujgan who now lives in Turkey but who also lived in Merrylands in the late 70's.
I wonder how often we passed each other on our separate ways to school!
