Stift Stams in Tirol

Selected for Google Maps and Google Earth

Stift Stams is a Cistercian monastery, founded in 1273. The baroqueized basilica is the gravesite of the founders (Graf Meinhard II of Tirol and his wife Elisabeth), Duke Friedrich IV. mit der leeren Tasche, Archduke Sigmund der Münzreiche and Bianca Maria Sforza (second wife of Emperor Maximilian I).

The equestrian sculpture on the gable depicts the founder Graf Meinhard II von Tirol.
