Baring Head about 1939

Baring Head just after its light was first shown. The masts are a non-directional RF shipping beacon. Fascinating story about making and erecting these towers - one of which decades later, I had removed, restored off-site and replaced as a modern telecommunications tower - it was wonderful to use Crown money to restore a bit of heritage engineering and not get told off for doing it! Somewhere on this site there will be thousands of dollars worth of very heavy 6mm at least - copper wire laid as a ground plane for the old RF beacon transmitter
