Fthiotis, Kyparissi - a mirror

Kyparissi (Cypress) is at the 140th km of National Road Athens-Lamia. It is situated 9 km from Atalanti.
The first signs of growth in the area of Kyparissi occur during the Archaic Period (700 - 480 BC). In Gardenitsa (or Gardinitsa or Kastraki hill) there are fortifications of that period, as well as at the northern foot of the hill is built an ancestral gallery, with rich decoration (probably built around the mid 6th century BC). These projects were damaged by the earthquake in 425 BC that shook the whole region of Locris. In the area probability a sanctuary was operated (not know which / what god / goddess), and this is supported by the findings of the arcade. The people involved, as in the wider region, with agriculture, fishing, viticulture, livestock and ceramics.
