Then known as Piedmont station, Delaplane was where Stonewall Jackson boarded his troops onto rail cars and brought them to the battle of First Manassas in 1861. The town was renamed after Ohio business man W.E. Delaplane who helped in the towns recovery after the civil war. It is surrounded by wonderful active farms and vineyards.
