The Calvary at Notre-Dame-de-Tronoen

Selected for Google Maps and Google Earth

This Calvary dating from 1610 is an admirable piece of work. On the base are groups of figures illustrating scenes from the Passion. In a niche is a statue of St Thegonnec, accompanied as always by a wolf. The platform is surmounted by a cross with two crosspieces supporting figures and two simpler crosses for the two thieves.

Surely there's a body buried in there somewhere?

Gordon670 on July 13, 2012

Yes, a well known tourist attraction, have not been able to ascertain if there is a body buried there or not as far as I know there are usually no bodies buried in a calvaries, and there are plenty in this area of France

Cripes Gordon but I have never seen owt like this before.

Stunning stuff.

.... and there are no armed guards on it as there would have to be in ol' England methinks.

Another good trip I reckon - *Jethro

Hi my old friend,

All the help you gave me when I first started on Panoramio is now paying off, and phototos like this do create a lot of interest, it's only in this part of France where there are so many calvaries, it makes good photography

Oh yes and what about your "don't call 911 shot?"

Take care o'l pal. Regards. Gordon
