the doultan fountain is the worlds largest terracotta fountain,gifted to the city by sir henry doultan it was unveiled at the 1888 empire exhibition in kelvin grove park later moved to glasgow green in 1890.the fountain was designed to commemorate queen victoria's golden jubilee of 1887 & to celebrate britain's imperial achievements. it cost 4 million pounds to refurbish & relocate to it's new home outside the peoples palace & was switched on in may 2005
